Black Womb 2023

A vigilant and conscious void, my existence precedes the chaotic black waters that contain latent energy, formless chaotic waters, the Black Womb in outer space.

The Black Womb is inspired by the wisdom of Laozi’s Tao Te Ching: “The Tao gives birth to One; One gives birth to Two; Two gives birth to Three; and Three gives birth to all things.”

The power of water lies, through its texture and depth, in its capacity to undergo qualitative change shaped by individual experience and emotion. This points to something about the human condition: not water itself, but the relationship between humans and water.​
